BMW Xenon: Many Kinds, Many Colors

by Rand Stuck

Drivers these days cannot help but notice that headlights on the highway are tinted a variety of different colors. What they do not realize is that these headlights are for more than just aesthetics: Xenon headlights come in a variety of colors and tints, all of which vary according to the brightness level of the bulb, measured in Kelvins.

The xenon lights are an especially popular feature of the new BMWs. The varied bulb colors not have a great look to them, but they also produce less glare for oncoming drivers, and greater visibility for the BMW driver. When considering options for your new BMW, you will definitely want to consider which of the xenon color bulb options is right for you.

Xenon lights come in many different colors that correspond to the brightness of the bulbs. They range from 6,000 to 12,000 degrees Kelvin. Regular halogen lights have a brightness of 4,300 degrees Kelvin and give off a little bit of a yellowish glow. Super white bulbs are 4,800 degrees Kelvin and, as the name says, are a very bright white. The bright blue Xenon lights are measured to be 6-8,000 degrees of brightness on the Kelvin scale. All of these bulbs are legal to use while driving in all fifty states.

Two additional kinds of xenon BMW headlights can be purchased but they aren't authorized for use while driving in any state. The vivid green BMW xenon lights come in at 12,000 degrees Kelvin and the violet BMW xenon lights are measured at 10,000 Kelvin degrees. Both are typically used for show cars because they give off far too much light for highway or street travel.

Conversion kits can be used on cars that don't take xenon bulbs. You can find many places on the internet that offer these or by shopping around town. Giving your older car a new look is easy with these kits.

Xenon headlights are especially safe as the different tints make the lights stand out. Nobody would be able to say "That car came out of nowhere!" because lights draw attention to the vehicle. While the bulbs themselves may be a bit more pricey, they are well worth the investment.

Many people might be recognizing that headlights they see on the roads are tinted in a variety of colors. They might not know that these are not fashion statements by the drivers but are actually xenon headlights. The new bmw lighting is growing more common. A xenon bmw headlight can be purchased but isn't authorized for use while driving in any state. The vivid green bmw xenon lights come in at 12,000 degrees Kelvin and the violet lights are measured at 10,000 Kelvin degrees. Both are typically used for show cars because they give off far too much light for highway or street travel.
