The Perils of Spyware
My friend is a fisherman, at least that's what he plans to do one day, on a daily basis he fixes computers and does an excellent job and has a sterling reputation. If I have a personal computer problem, my friend is the emergency number I dial and no matter how challenging or complex the problem, give him some leeway and he'll find a way out. He mentioned something alarming the other day, it seems that 80% of the computers he fixes have spyware or adware on their PCs, and most people are uninformed of it; calling him when their systems grind to a halt.
The net is analogous to a living, breathing life-form constantly evolving, and sometimes not in a constructive direction, though it unquestionably has allowed me my career of choice. As the seasons change and expertise advances, so also does spyware & adware. It is crucial in this day and age to have Spyware Removal tools installed and to use it often; essential is keeping the software up to date, because what may have worked yesterday could miss a virus or adwarecoded today.
As research for this musing (but not using this system) I ran a test, removing any spyware removal software then purposedly visiting several traffic trade sites. These surfing exchanges are ideal for new marketers, giving them the method to deliver people to selected sites, accomplished by their visiting and looking at other sites. The operation is performed this way:
A person visits a particular site and receives credits for looking at the site These credits are allocated to a particular site. Then When someone else surfs, the site you want to promote is shown. The system is designed so everyone gets a look at someone elses site.
This allows anyone to quickly send traffic to their sites, there are some that (not all) of these surfing sites are either run by or used by people of ill intent. The goal not to merely show their offer or website, but to send spyway to your home computer. And with today's technology much of this malware is intelligient enough to trigger the download of spyware/adware onto your home computer, as easily as visiting a particular marketing offer. I'm not knocking these sites or discouraging their use, I am suggesting vigilance and recommending you be certain your home computer is protected.
If this concerns you, experienced people say you already have or will certainly run into spyware or adware. If you have the belief, I don't visit those kinds of sites and I certainly don't download bootleg titles, then congratulations, but you are VERY MUCH still at risk. Take the your computer. Take heed of the old saying...
'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure'
Nowhere is that truer than with the important data on your PC. Much of your data it is vital, either from your job or personal standpoint; just imagine waking up to discover all your data erased. Appalling, absolutely... Might it happen?... It's happened to others. Preventable? Yes by using the right syware/adware removal programs.
Now that I have your attention, maybe you're thinking what will spyware and adware do to my computer. Outstanding, happy to know you're concerned. In most cases spyware/adware/malware are not were not coded to erase files, but silent reporters. keeping records and data, then reporting your habits to a website; the spyware may initiate pop-ups and can choke your system, slow your processor and diminish your connection to the Internet. It's not so much the damage done, but the fact that your life, your privacy, your system has been breached and these people (whomever they are) have no right to be there.
Thankfully there are smart people that feel precisely the way I do; they want to take action. I don't know how to write code, My skill is writing, and I offer these facts to give fair warning and recommend you take precautions and protect your network. I am grateful to those programmers with the skill and spirit to code then make available these top notch spyware/adware removal programs.
Once you make a decision on one of the spyware/malware removal tools to use, I'd suggest regular scans of your system. If the automatic features of the program are used, you'll find it does most of the grunt work automatically, and most likely while you're asleep.
