Health Is Our Greatest Asset
The most significant factor in this life is our health and well being and we need to do all that we can to preserve it. Unquestionably other things are important too, we all share the need for an ample supply of income to live in society, we require love and shelter in order to continue a vigorous state of being, but in this writer's opinion, nothing is more crucial than our health and well being. I'll not make such statements without a bit more insight.
While my thoughts are my own, they do contain some substance and are not simply ramblings. I was forunate to have (or had) a good friend whose focus in life money, this did not cause him to be a bad individual, quite the reverse is true, many times he came to me in times of need desiring to help, today he has departed this earth, he lost his health and then his life. This of course is a rare example and I certainly do not want to color this piece with despair, rather insights for life.
This is not a debating ground for religious topics, yet I believe unquestionably that the spirit does not end and that this this life is asimply a rehearsal for the next; but I want to assure you I want to live my journey to the fullest, savoring, breathing in the air, feeling the excitement of the blowing wind in my hair and the beauty of a colorful sunset. When my journey is at an end, I'll walk unafraid through the veil, but until that day, I will continue to walk boldly across the land and I can only do this with my health.
One skeptic asked! 'Why is health more important than wealth?'
Very simply, with our health and wellbeing we can strive, we can make a living, we can generate resumes, go on job interviews, go after our dreams, tackle new projects, live up to and exceed our expectations, but only if we have the concentration and well being to do so. As I sit now writing this, I'm overlooking the water, it is quiet and serene and my mind is unburdened and can roam and soar, but my mind is fired by my energy and my energy by proper nutrition, staying active and a upbeat outlook on life; again, all this happens because of good health.
Each night as I lay down to sleep, I think helpful thoughts, I practice deep breathing, I connect with my maker (yes I believe He exists), and I express thanks for my health, but I do not take it for granted, I strive to keep it that way. Each day (and I do not get up early, tending to write late into the night) I'll perform stretching exercises and lite aerobics to speed up my metabolism. I'm fortunate, I do have good genetics, my mom lived to be 94 and my grandmother nearly the same, I learned these routines from them and I do not take them, nor my well being for granted.
I guess I'm somewhat on a campaign, having recently lost two close friends; two friends I thought the world of, but two friends who have now departed from this world. I do not grieve for them; knowing they now have transended, but I miss them and desire that they were here with me.
Is there a moral to any of this..., it is simply to appreciate the life given you and to cherish it. While I can give you no crystal-clear clue as to what will transpire when we leave this life, I can tender this advice.
Live your life to the fullest, and appreciate every breath that you breathe.
