Project Management Training: New Paradigms
Any task which has a fixed beginning and a definite end is termed as a project. In today's world, most work is based on project methodology. Therefore, it is imperative that we develop an understanding of projects and the management tools and techniques used in order to meet the project objectives. Project Management training goes beyond the realms of training restricted to water-tight compartments of technology, management etc. Projects may involve all these fields and project management training must therefore include training across the domains.
Taking the case of a software development project. Only after a proper explanation is provided will the project be initiated. For this to occur, there must be a legitimate requirement for the outcome being desired to be project result. Planning for the project begins with understanding the requirements. The business analyst handling that client/relationship sets forth the requirements in a software development project. Using cases, the requirements necessitate to be tested. A variety of requirements analysis software is obtainable in the market. Once the requirements have been determined and documented appropriately, the next stage of project management begins.
Project management includes distributing tasks to various available resources. But resources increase the cost of the project as well. Hence a good project uses some or all of the available resources so that they can provide the maximum optimum output. Project managers often use project management template to achieve their goals. These templates are designed in worksheet software applications. Hence, hands-on training on worksheet processors must be included in project management training.
Any project involves two-way communication throughout the life cycle of the project. The feedback loop is of immense importance to project managers to understand the current status of project. Current status of project affects the project planning in future. Training in project management must therefore also include hands-on training on the communication tools being used in the particular project. Such training will reap in huge rewards. Communication training goes beyond mail software training. You must emphasize the relevance of routine check-ups during the life cycle of project.
One of the two methods is used in making large sheds. One of the methods is to build the shed by stick and another method is built it using metal. Sheds of both types are having advantages. Wood sheds gives weather insulation and normally cheaper. Metal sheds do not hold heat and cold and more expensive. The resin sheds will not have to be replaced or repaired frequently unlike wooden and metal sheds. This feature of them is more attractive in this segment. But resin sheds are more expensive.
More recently, trainers have started using specially designed computer games, in order to illustrate the project management concepts. These games involve the learner and at the same time ,make him use exclusively ,the project management technologies and its concepts.Such game based training is desired to have a quantifiable effect to a certain extent, using course assessments. The training should not only cover the traditional project management techniques but also try to involve the user to perform functions, using the project management technologies himself.
Projects are the basis of most of the work and so project management training is of utmost importance. For example, in a software development project, planning for the project begins with understanding the requirements. Then project managers manage their resources often by a project management template. Feedback helps project managers to understand the current status of the project and future project management is affected by it. So training on communication tools is highly rewarding. Training in project management should also include human resource management. The training, which now uses specially designed games, should involve philosophies as well as actually performing tasks using these concepts.
